2014 Chevrolet Impala Review

2014 Chevrolet Impala

“A Stunning Reinterpretation”
The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala is exactly that, all new. With a complete redesign Chevrolet has turned this fleet looking model into a sexy, sophisticated, smooth ride.

The re-designed interior of the Impala has given this car a more sophisticated look and feel with the attention to detail and focus on comfort. New options include heated and ventilated power 8-way front seats with 4-way adjustable head restraints and a heated steering wheel with power tilt/telescoping feature. There are nice chrome accents throughout with wood grain trim and soft blue ambient lighting along the dash; all together making the new Impala very pleasing on the senses. There is ample room for all 5 passengers in the Impala and lots of storage space including storage in the door panels, arm rest, umbrella storage in the doors and a great hidden storage compartment behind the touch screen radio or under floor storage in the trunk. The newest MyLink infotainment system has been added to the Impala with an easier to use interface and many great features including personalizing the system to your preferences, having up to 10 devices linked at once and all on the 8” color touch screen.

Engine / Performance

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala comes with a 3.6L V6 engine which produces 305 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque, an engine with power as well as great fuel efficiency with and estimated fuel consumption of 6.9L/100km. There is also a smaller engine with a 2.5L 4 cylinder ECO tech engine that gives even better fuel efficiency, but you do have to give up power for efficiency as this engine produces 195 horsepower. This is a pretty fast car that reacts instantly due to the Variable Valve Timing and direct injection technology making this car go 0-60 in just 6.8 seconds. One thing we did notice was the tight steering radius which is great for a full size car like the Impala and the handling is excellent making the Impala a comfortable and easy ride.

The new redesign has given the Impala a bold, confident stance with a provocative silhouette, sculpted doors and sloping roofline leaving us with a great lasting impression. The wide chrome grill, optional 18, 19 or 20” wheels and halogen projector beam headlights let you know this is not a car to mess with. We loved the panoramic sunroof and the chrome accents around the vehicle. The redesign has turn the Impala from mediocre to a car to look out for.

The redesign also included some great safety features including the forward collision alert (radar sensors around the vehicle that senses when you are approaching a car too fast and will alert you), adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking and lane departure warning which alerts you if you unintentionally drift out of your lane. If you do get into a collision there are 10 standard airbags and the ultra-high-strength steel are all set in place to protect you and your passengers. We are very pleased with Chevy’s new Impala and are glad they focused their energy on a vehicle we thought they forgot about.

  1. I wish the chevy SS would come to Canada.

  2. I like the new Impala's but I wouldn't option for one under 200hp, the fuel savings are not worth that insane power decrease.
